Term and Conditions

  1. Priority will be given to first-time applicants.
  2. Applications having support from other granting bodies will be looked at more favorably.
  3. Grants and Fellowships:
    • PHF does not sponsor university tuition fees, or PhD write-up.
    • The cap for the award of individual grants is $10,000 for academic and publication projects. For lecture series and visiting positions, higher amounts depending on projected need and available funds will be considered.
    • For amounts less than a $3,000 only one reference is required. For amounts above $3,000 two references are required.
    • Referees cannot be part of the project for which support is requested and should not be beneficiaries of the grant. For Academic Grants, the referees should furthermore not be member of the same institution.
    • Members of the Board of PHF cannot be referees.
    • It is the responsibility of the applicant, not the referee, to ensure that PHF receives the application and references by the deadline – no exceptions.
    • All references by scholars attached to an academic institution must be sent directly from the institutional email address of the referees or, if sent by post, on letterhead paper only.
    • PHF will pay only grantees and not a third person designated by them.
    • Grantees MUST have a bank account in the U.S. PHF cannot transfer funds to any country other than U.S.
    • Grants awarded conditionally but not taken up will become void after one year.
    • All grants and funding from the PHF must comply meticulously with OFAC regulations, and any violations are the responsibility of the grantee, not the PHF.
    • All grant recipients must provide a progress report and end of project report providing details of fieldwork, conference attendance and performance information as applicable, within 3 months after completion. Without a final report subsequent applications will not be considered.
  4. The Persian Heritage Foundation’s (PHF’s) support and logo must be acknowledged and displayed clearly in all printed and web-based material relating to the event/project. This includes but is not limited to: flyers, advertisements, programs, conference proceedings, web pages, etc. Wording will depend on type of contribution provided [in association, partners, supported by, etc.].
  5. Any podcasts, video casts, or other recorded sound and/or video from the events being sponsored shall be made available, with all relevant rights, to PHF for dissemination through its website (either directly or through a link to the event’s website) and for use in PHF’s promotional materials. IHF promises in return to credit the provider of the film and the organizer of the event in any subsequent use. A reciprocal link would be provided by us to them.
  6. Failure to meet these conditions may result in PHF’s withdrawal from sponsorship and void the agreement between the parties.
